Ammonia Checker Medium Range 0.00 to 9.99 ppm
Hanna Instruments HI-715 Ammonia Medium Range Checker®HC (0.00 to 9.99 ppm)
The Hanna Instruments HI-715 is an accurate and reliable digital colorimeter for measuring ammonia in freshwater across a medium range of 0.00 to 9.99 ppm. Designed as a more accurate alternative to test strips, the HI-715 provides a clear digital readout with no colour-matching guesswork, allowing swift, informed adjustments to maintain correct water chemistry. Single-button operation and a 10ml sample requirement make it simple and fast to use, and a built-in timer ensures timed reaction readings are handled automatically.
The HI-715 uses an adaptation of the ASTM Manual of Water and Environmental Technology D1426-93, Nessler Method. Reagents react with ammonia to produce a yellow tint in the sample, which the Checker reads and displays as a digital ppm value. Ammonia is produced naturally in aquariums through fish excretion, urine, faeces and the decomposition of organic matter — elevated levels can cause burns to fish skin and scales, reduce their ability to absorb oxygen and trigger algae growth that affects pH. The HI-715 is supplied with a starter kit of 25 reagent tests so testing can begin straight out of the box.
